Discrimination based on Color

Discrimination based on color can occur when an employer fires an employee over a coworker of the same race with lighter skin. Color discrimination can arise from racist myth that lighter skin makes an employee more intelligent, reliable or trustworthy than someone with darker skin. Such discrimination is illegal under both State and federal law.
